The Gol Gumbaz at Bijapur is really quite a structure. Like the name, the Gol Gumbaz is a very imposing structure, exuding power and dominance. While the Taj Mahal looks feminine and graceful, the Gol Gumbaz looks quite masculine and powerful 😀
The Gol Gumbaz is one of the largest domed structures in the world. It also boasts of a Whispering Gallery with fantastic accoustics. The king and queen stood on opposite ends of the dome and communicated in this way 🙂
Russell Market is one of the oldest markets in Bangalore. It is extremely crowded, and quite a crazy place overall 😀 I loved how the walls are covered with colors and paintings.
I went to the Uppal Idols market in Hyderabad a few days back. Many artisans live here by the road, earning their living through making and selling idols. It’s a hazardous way of life, due to the constant exposure to lead and zinc pigments in the paint, right from childhood.
Yet, the people were very happy to pose and get photographed 🙂 The following photographs are of some of the people I met there.
