Gol Gumbaz at Bijapur

The Gol Gumbaz at Bijapur is really quite a structure. Like the name, the Gol Gumbaz is a very imposing structure, exuding power and dominance. While the Taj Mahal looks feminine and graceful, the Gol Gumbaz looks quite masculine and powerful 😀

The Gol Gumbaz is one of the largest domed structures in the world. It also boasts of a Whispering Gallery with fantastic accoustics. The king and queen stood on opposite ends of the dome and communicated in this way 🙂

Agra

It’s been a very long time since I’ve taken any shots. I recently went to Agra and although I didn’t take many photos and whatever I took was really quite ordinary (and common…Taj Mahal for God’s sake :D) – couldn’t resist posting something to the blog after so long. So here goes –

It really IS quite big... 🙂

Crowded of course...

Signs of destruction in Hampi

Hampi is scattererd with half burnt structures – buildings that were destroyed by invaders, leaving only a few traces behind as reminders of the glorious structures that once stood there. Posting some snapshots.

I have some more pictures of Temples, but I can’t seem to remember the name 🙂 Even so, posting them here (This may have been Varaha Temple, but I’m just guessing here). Hampi is a wonderful place and I would definitely like to go back there sometime.

Also posting photographs from the Zanana, which housed the women’s quarters (for all the king’s wives and her lady companions)
